World-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a road crash on Monday along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Makun, Ogun State. Eyewitnesses said the Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck around 11am, causing the death of two passengers on the spot. Joshua, seated behind the driver, sustained minor injuries. Adeniyi Orojo, a reporter and rescuer at the scene, stated, “Other eyewitnesses and I began the rescue and flagged down oncoming vehicles to assist. A few minutes after the crash, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived. The passenger beside the driver and the person beside Joshua died on the spot.”
Orojo added that the convoy consisted of a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV, with Joshua’s security detail following behind. Local authorities are still investigating the crash. Ogun State Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed receiving videos of the incident and said, “I’ve seen the videos too, but I will get back to you on it.” Fans have taken to social media to express concern over Joshua’s condition, with updates expected from authorities soon.
