Two-time unified heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua narrowly escaped death on Monday after surviving a car crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two of his close friends. The 36-year-old British boxer was travelling in the back seat of a black SUV when it collided with a stationary truck on a major road near Lagos, sustaining minor injuries and requiring hospital treatment.
The crash killed two members of his entourage, identified as Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, who were seated on the passenger side of the vehicle. Reports by the Daily Mail said Joshua had earlier swapped seats with Ayodele during the journey, a decision that ultimately spared his life, as the impact occurred on the opposite side of the SUV.
