Gunmen on Tuesday evening abducted a former Ogun State House of Assembly member, Moruf Musa, at Ibiade in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the former Majority Leader (2007–2011) was kidnapped around 7:00 p.m. while observing evening prayers inside a mosque within his compound.
Confirming the incident, the council chairman, Ganiyu Odunoiki, said, “The report is true. The former lawmaker was abducted on Tuesday evening. The gunmen also reportedly shot some people on the road.” He added that security operatives and community members were combing nearby bushes, with police officers, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and the Area Commander already on ground.
Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said the command was aware and had activated security measures. “Security measures, including the deployment of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, have been activated, and the public is advised to remain calm pending official updates.” A source said the victim struggled with abductors before they fired shots to escape.
