Akwa Ibom State police have apprehended five individuals for circulating fake news about a non-existent kidnap at an Oron secondary school. Commissioner of Police Baba Azare stated the information was “untrue and unfair to society,” and the suspects have been charged in court to deter others.
During a meeting with youth leaders in Uyo, CP Azare emphasized collaboration to promote truth, peace, and responsibility. He urged leaders to counter misinformation and encourage verification before sharing, highlighting dialogue’s role in progress over violence.
