Akpabio files ₦200bn defamation suit against Senator Natasha over harassment claim.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a ₦200billion defamation lawsuit against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, alleging she maliciously accused him of sexual harassment. Court filings indicate he is demanding monetary damages, public retractions, and broadcast apologies across major media platforms, stating the allegations damaged his reputation. An ex parte application granted by Justice U. P. Kekemeke also approved substituted service through the Clerk of the National Assembly after direct service attempts failed.

Documents show the suit includes a Statement of Claim and witness list, with Akpabio asserting that the interviews in which the allegations were made reached millions and portrayed him as a predator. He seeks removal of all online content referencing the claims and several days of nationwide apology broadcasts. The case, now cleared to proceed, is expected to become a closely watched political courtroom battle.
