Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has criticised President Tinubu’s nationwide security emergency, arguing that corruption—not manpower—is the real issue, and warning that discouraging rural schools is a dangerous policy shift.
Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has faulted President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide security emergency, saying the administration “missed the point” by focusing on mass recruitment instead of tackling corruption within the security system.
Speaking on Arise News, he argued that “it is not about numbers” and claimed the Nigeria Police could end terrorism and banditry within two months if freed from corruption and political interference.
Baba-Ahmed also criticised Tinubu’s advice to avoid building boarding schools in vulnerable rural areas, warning that such a stance is “deadly” and would amount to allowing bandits to dictate national policy.
He insisted that the government should expand education access in remote communities as Nigeria faces rising attacks, kidnappings, and pressure on rural schools.
