AFCON: Super Eagles hammer Mozambique 4-0 to reach quarter-finals

The Super Eagles secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a convincing 4–0 victory over Mozambique in their Round of 16 encounter in Fès. Nigeria continued their impressive form after topping Group C with a perfect record, while Mozambique, making their first appearance at this stage of the competition, struggled to contain the Eagles’ intensity and attacking movement throughout the contest.

Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute after converting an assist from Akor Adams, before Victor Osimhen struck twice, adding a second five minutes later and a third early in the second half following another Lookman assist.

Adams completed the rout in the 75th minute as Nigeria dominated proceedings, registering eight shots on target while Mozambique failed to test goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali. With the win, Nigeria advance to the quarter-finals and will face the winners of the clash between Algeria and Congo DR as they continue their pursuit of a fourth AFCON title.
