Four Super Eagles players — Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Semi Ajayi and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali — are at risk of suspension ahead of Nigeria’s final AFCON 2025 Group C match against Uganda.
Each player is one yellow card away from missing the Round of 16, with Osimhen’s potential absence likely to force coach Eric Chelle to consider Paul Onuachu as a replacement. Lookman, who has scored in both of Nigeria’s group matches, is also in danger of being ruled out should he receive another caution.
Nwabali, booked for time-wasting against Tunisia, could be replaced by Francis Uzoho if he picks up another yellow, while Ajayi’s position may prompt Chelle to turn to Zaidu Sanusi.
A win against Uganda would secure Nigeria maximum group-stage points, following their victories over Tanzania (2-1) and Tunisia (3-2), and confirm qualification for the knockout round.
