Adelabu’s billion-naira mansion sparks public service wealth debate

Why didn’t he build the mansion in 20 years of private service but did in just 2 years of public service?

Tinubu’s Minister for Power, Adebayo Adelabu, was a PWC employee for 6 years, yet he couldn’t afford this mansion.

He worked as an Audit Manager and Consultant for many financial institutions yet, he couldn’t build the billion Naira mansion.

He served as the West African Regional Head of Finance and Strategy for Standard Chartered Bank and later as Deputy Governor, Operations at the CBN under Goodluck Jonathan, we didn’t see the luxury mansion spring suddenly.

However, in less than two years of serving as the Minister of Power under Tinubu, Adelabu built this mansion, at a cost more than a billion Naira.

These are the issues. The amount of wealth elected or appointed public servants acquire in a short time after their appointment is unimaginable and criminally huge.

In most cases, Nigerian public servants serve ONLY the interest of the President or the Governor who appoints them and their deep unfillable pockets.

Could Adelabu have saved up the money to erect this mansion, in over 20 years of private sector service? Very possible.

But why didn’t he build the mansion in 20 years of private service but did in just 2 years of public service?

You know the answer, and it is a very simple, pitiable one.✍️
