The African Democratic Congress (ADC) website went down on Friday, just two days after opposition leaders publicly backed the party ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar (PDP), 2023 Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, ex-Senate President David Mark, and other political figures including Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, and Nasir el-Rufai had declared support for ADC in a joint effort to unseat the ruling APC.
When FIJ attempted to access www.adc.org.ng Friday afternoon, a message appeared: “The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.”
Web hosting expert Yetunde Salami had earlier explained that such “Error 509” issues could result from high traffic, unoptimized websites, or media-heavy content. Solutions include upgrading the hosting plan or increasing bandwidth allowances.
The timing of the crash has raised speculation about heightened public interest in the new coalition.
