Court convicts man for defrauding U.S. NGO of $71,000.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Dennis Tamarakuro, alias Keisha Reynolds, to one year in prison or a fine of N1 million for defrauding a U.S.-based NGO of $71,795.41.
Justice Emeka Nwite delivered the verdict on Thursday after Tamarakuro pleaded guilty to impersonating a U.S. investor and diverting funds via cryptocurrency.
The EFCC recovered over $42,000, while the rest was blocked by a U.S. bank. The court ordered the recovered funds forfeited and directed the convict to swear to an affidavit of good conduct.
