Contractors under the All Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria (AICAN) have launched a continuous protest at a federal ministry, accusing the government of crippling their businesses by failing to pay debts owed to them. One of the association’s executives said they displayed a coffin to symbolize the deaths of members allegedly caused by stress and hardship linked to the delayed payments, stating, “Even last week we buried a member, Abdulganiyu… We lost six members recently due to high blood pressure.” Protesters insist the situation is no longer acceptable and demand urgent government intervention.
