President/Chief Executive of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Aliko Dangote, has announced the expansion of the refinery’s production capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million bpd.
Speaking to newsmen in Lagos on Sunday, Dangote said the expansion marks a historic milestone, positioning the refinery as the world’s largest.
The announcement comes months after the refinery began full operations, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s domestic fuel supply and reducing import dependence.
Fuel Tanker Overturns in Niger, Sparks Panic Among Residents
A petrol-laden tanker overturned on Sunday morning along the Lambata-Lapai-Agaie Road in Niger State, causing panic among residents.
The tanker, which departed Lagos for Kano, fell at Takalafiya village in Lapai Local Government Area. Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred around dawn, with fears of possible fire outbreak.
Authorities have cordoned off the area as emergency responders worked to prevent fuel spillage from igniting.
NDLEA Arrests Pretty Mike, 100 Others in Lagos Nightclub Raid
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lagos socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, along with over 100 suspects during a drug raid at Proxy Night Club in Victoria Island.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed on Sunday that illicit substances, including cannabis and nitrous oxide, were recovered. He said all suspects are under investigation.
