10 Rivers PDP lawmakers reaffirm loyalty after mass defection

Following the defection of 16 Rivers State House of Assembly members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the remaining PDP lawmakers have reaffirmed loyalty to the party. They passed a resolution adopting the auditorium of the Legislature Quarters as the recognised sitting chamber, saying the move would ensure legislative continuity despite the ongoing political crisis.

According to TVC, the 10 minority members selected officers and administered oaths for positions including minority leader, deputy majority leader, minority whip, and deputy minority whip. The lawmakers who did not defect include Emilia Lucky-Amadi, Justina Emeji, Ignatius Onwuka, Barile Nwakor, Ezekwe Nkemjika, Queen Tony-Williams, Lemchi Nyeche, Sylvanus Nwankwo, Iderima Dominic, and Mgbar Bernard. Earlier reports confirmed that 16 members led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule defected from the PDP.
